JSS Dental College ties up with University of Turin, Italy

Mysore/Mysuru: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Division of Forensic Odontology, JSS Dental College and Hospital, a constituent college of JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru and The Human Identification Laboratory, Section of Legal Medicine, University of Turin (UniTO), Italy, recently. Rector Prof. Stefano Geuna, representing UniTO and Registrar Dr. B. Manjunatha, representing JSS AHER, signed MoU, for scientific collaboration by implementing joint, coordinated didactic & research programmes.

The Human Identification Laboratory has a focus dedicated to Forensic Odontology under the responsibility of Prof. Emilio Nuzzolese, Forensic Odontologist and Researcher (RTDB) of legal medicine. It allows remote Forensic Odontology Assessments (Virdentopsy), Dental Autopsies, Radiological exams, Biological age estimation, Dental photogrammetric scanning and SEM analysis of dental materials, for personal attribution of human remains.

Division of Forensic Odontology is actively involved in medico-legal case work such as examination of sexual assault victims and accused involving bite-marks, age estimation, recognition and reporting of child and elder abuse.
