JSS law students visit State Forensic Science Laboratory

Mysuru: The final year law students from JSS Law College, Mysuru, led by Prof. G. Asmathunnisa, visited the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) in Bengaluru on Nov.11 for an immersive educational experience. The session opened with a lecture on Toxicology, outlining procedures for evidence collection, followed by an introduction to DNA profiling and paternity testing. The Departments of Biology, Chemistry and Physics detailed their roles within forensic investigations, while the Firearms Department shared insights on cases they handle.

The visit concluded with a presentation from the Computer and Audio-Video Forensics team, who demonstrated advanced methods for analysing digital evidence, providing students with a comprehensive overview of SFSL’s critical work.

The visit provided students with a practical understanding of forensic science, aligning with their legal studies and enhancing their awareness of the collaborative efforts that underpin                                                                     forensic investigations.
