Award-winning journalists too feted
Mysore/Mysuru: Eighty-three NCC Cadets from Mysuru NCC Group who participated in 74th Republic Day Camp – 2023 at New Delhi were felicitated at a programme organised by JSS Mahavidyapeetha at Suttur Mutt, foot of Chamundi Hill in city on Feb. 20.
Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, who graced the occasion, felicitated all the NCC Cadets and also honoured Media Academy awardees — University of Mysore (UoM) retired Professor R. Indira and journalists Ramesh Nayaka, Mullur Raju, K.P. Nagaraj and Nagesh Panathale.
NCC cadets S.M. Hruthik, U. Jayashree, J. Rakshitha, D. Aishwarya, M.S. Surya, N.M. Anmol, D. Pavan Kumar, L. Veda Prada, P. Subhash, M. Mahendra, S. Sudeep , Akarsh Sanjay Kumar and Aditya Sudheer Tanksali from various Colleges who took part in the R-Day Parade, Cultural programme and Prime Minister’s Rally were felicitated.

On the occasion, ‘Best Institution Award’ and ‘Best Chief Minister Commendation Award’ was presented to JSS Institution for encouraging NCC Cadets.
Speaking after honouring, the Swamiji said that it is a great development to see students not only engaging themselves in academics but also in various co-curricular activities like NCC etc. “NCC is one of a kind platform for students that helps them to increase discipline, humanity, patience resulting in a better life. All these cadets have brought pride to Mysuru by taking part in the R-Day Camp which is witnessed by a huge audience across the world,” he added.
Group Commander of Head Quarters NCC Group Mysuru Col. R.R. Menon, Commanding Officer of 14 NCC Karnataka Battalion Mysuru Col. Manish Prasad, MCC Officers S. Harshakumar, Dr. L. Vinay Kumar, senior Journalists C. K. Mahendra and Kudli Gururaj, Department of Collegiate Education Additional Director R. Moogeshappa and others were present on the occasion.
