Mysuru: JSS College of Pharmacy Alumni Association, as a part of its upcoming Alumni meeting and Green Initiative, planted tree saplings at Naidu Nagar in city yesterday.
About 25 alumni of the college along with the staff members planted about 200 saplings of Neem and Ashoka Tree in the area.
Speaking to Star of Mysore, College Principal Dr. Pramod said that the planting of tree saplings was taken up as a part of the upcoming alumni association meeting scheduled on Aug. 10 in the college. About 250 old students of the college, who are now settled in various parts of the country and even in foreign countries would be taking part in the event, he added.
JSS College of Pharmacy, which has been working for the Green cause, has installed rooftop solar panel at the college through which it has been producing around 60-70 percent of electricity that the college requires, said Dr. Pramod.
He also added that as a part of Green Audit initiative, the college has also planted fruit bearing trees to provide good environment for the students. The tree saplings for today’s event were sponsored by Raghavan of Raghulal and Co.
