Mysuru/Mysore: Jagadguru Sri Veerasimhasana Mutt, Suttur and JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru, in association with Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage and History Department, JSS Women’s College, Mysuru, has organised a programme to celebrate the birth Centenary of Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar at Navajyothi Auditorium, JSS Women’s College, Saraswathipuram, in city on Feb. 15 and Feb. 16.
Speaking at a press meet held at JSS Women’s College in city this morning, JSS Mahavidyapeetha Secretary Prof. S.P. Manjunath said that Jayachamaraja Wadiyar has made valuable contributions in the field of arts, literature, culture and education. He had a close affinity with late Suttur seer Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Swamiji. In an effort to remember and honour the contributions of Jayachamaraja Wadiyar, this two-day programme has been organised, which will be inaugurated by MLA L. Nagendra on Feb. 15 at 11 am.
Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji will grace the occasion. Scion of the erstwhile royal family, Yaduveer Wadiyar will preside over the programme. District In-charge Minister V. Somanna will inaugurate the exhibition. MP Pratap Simha, MLA S.A. Ramdas and Mayor Tasneem will be the chief guests.
On this occasion, Karnataka State Archives Department, in association with Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage and History Department, Sri Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery and Ramsons Kala Pratishtana, Mysuru has organised an exhibition of photos and historical documents of that era.
Writer and linguist Dr. Pradhan Gurudatta, Kannada Book Authority Chairman Dr. M.N. Nandish Hanche, Vidwan H.V. Nagaraj Rao, Dr. Rama V. Bennur, Prof. H.L. Chandrashekhar and other scholars will participate in five sessions which will be held as part of the celebration.
Senior Scholar Prof. Maleyur Guruswamy remembered the close association of Wadiyar with Suttur Mutt. Valedictory will be held on Feb. 16 at 4.30 pm.
MLA L. Nagendra will preside in which Deputy Mayor C. Sridhar, Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage and History Department Commissioner T. Venkatesh and Department Deputy Director Nirmala Mathapati will be the chief guests.
