Mysuru: Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara University (JSSU), S.S. Nagar, Mysuru and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), USA, have agreed to continue the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed five years ago for faculty and students exchange to diversify their experiential knowledge.
The visiting delegation from SIUE Dr. Randy Pembrook, Chancellor, Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, USA and Dr. Gireesh Gupchup, Dean, School of Pharmacy, SIUE expressed their satisfaction in the progress made under this MoU and discussed ways and means of expanding the scope of MoU. They also expressed their interest in collaborative research and innovation with JSSU in future.
JSS University Vice-Chancellor Dr. B, Suresh said that the MoU was initiated for a period of five years with strategic intent to offer strong assessment and evaluation of the joint programmes, devising mentorship programmes with joint guidance and knowledge management of both the Universities. He also said that faculty exchanges are designed to diversify the experiential knowledge of faculty who teach courses at SIUE and JSS University, to enhance the integration of international dimensions into the curricula of both institutions, and to provide faculty with the opportunity to develop research initiatives that include international data bases and collaborative efforts with colleagues.
Dr.G. Parthasarathi, Dean, Global Engagement, JSSU, explained the collaborative research proposals initiated between both the Universities and expressed his view on strengthening collaborative publications and patents between both the Universities.
Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, said that this is a step forward to empower innovation in the constituent colleges of JSSU. The Officers of JSS University, Principals and Heads of the Departments of the constituents colleges of JSSU, were a part of this discussion.
