Nanjangud: Even as Nanjangud’s Jubilant Generics COVID-19 cluster cases have become a cause of grave concern in Mysuru district, Nanjangud MLA B. Harshavardhan said that the Pharmaceutical Unit will not be allowed to re-open until full contact-tracing and enquiry into the origin of the infection is completed.
Speaking to presspersons here yesterday, Harshavardhan said that the cluster cases discovered in Nanjangud is a blot on the town and has also brought scare among the people. Alleging that Jubilant Generics failed to take preventive and safety measures to check the spread of the virus, he questioned the industry’s action of importing raw materials from other countries in March this year at a time when the deadly disease had turned pandemic.
He also alleged that the virus may have spread from the container vehicle which brought the raw materials.
Noting that samples of raw materials have been sent to a Pune Laboratory for Coronavirus test, he reiterated that Jubilant Generics will not be allowed to re-open until the test reports come and the enquiry into the spread of the virus is completed.
