Sri Arvind Maharshi Awards conferred
Mysore/Mysuru: Identifying achievers by caste was like insulting their achievements, opined R. Raghu Kautilya, Chairman, Devaraja Urs Backward Classes Development Corporation.
He was speaking at a function organised at the premises of Institution of Engineers-India (IEI) on JLB Road in city by Anveshana Seva Trust to present Sri Arvind Maharshi Awards to achievers in various fields on the occasion of the 106th birth anniversary of littérateur Chaduranga here on Friday last.
Stating that the achievements of well-known littérateurs like Kuvempu, Da.Ra. Bendre, K. Shivaram Karanth, K.S. Narasimhaswamy, Chaduranga and others would remain even in coming 100 years, Raghu said that such achievers should not be identified by their caste.
“Are achievements of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar or Rajmatha Vani Vilasa Sannidhana less? We are not remembering kings who built this State. Except garlanding their statues, we are not doing anything. I will demand the District Administration to celebrate the birth anniversary of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar on the lines of Mysuru Dasara,” he added.
