Mysuru: Justice N. Santosh Hegde, former Karnataka Lokayukta, addressed a group of 30 select people at the residence of industrialist and social activist Ashvini Ranjan, who heads the NGO Pratham, Mysuru, last evening.
Giving a brief introduction to his early days in school and college, he dwelt upon his days as an advocate in the Karnataka High Court, as Advocate General, Solicitor General of Supreme Court and finally being elevated as the Supreme Court Judge.
Hegde also mentioned of his role as an Advocate during the dark days of Emergency when he met the leading lights of the Opposition politicians like L.K. Advani, Madhu Dandavate, A.B. Vajpayee, Ramakrishna Hegde and H.D. Deve Gowda in jail, to fight their cases.
The talk was followed by a question and answer session and when asked what the solution for corruption in the country was, as he himself had headed the watchdog Lokayukta, he said that the change should come from the society itself and only then, will there be hope for the country.
