New Delhi: Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court, will be the new Chief Justice of the High Court of Karnataka.
President Ram Nath Kovind yesterday approved the transfer of Justice Maheshwari.
The new Chief Justice will assume charge on or before February 20. Notably, the Chief Justice of India-led collegium had on January 10 recommended the name of Justice Maheshwari as Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court, though he came below in all-India seniority to Justice H.G. Ramesh, acting CJ of Karnataka High Court.
The office of the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court was lying vacant after retirement of Justice S.K. Mukherjee on October 9, last year.
Born on May 15, 1958, Justice Maheshwari took oath as Judge of Rajasthan High Court in 2004.
Justice Maheshwari was later transferred to Allahabad High Court as a Judge before being elevated as the Chief Justice of Meghalaya HC in 2016.
