Mysuru: Former Assembly Speaker Krishna has said that those who want to build organizations must work harmoniously and should not indulge in fight for power.
He was speaking after inaugurating K.R. Pet Taluk Mysuru Residents Welfare Association at a programme organised at MMC&RI Platinum Jubilee Hall in J.K. Grounds here on Sunday. Highlighting that service should be the first priority of any organisation, Krishna said that at the same time one must not harp on power associated with the organisation.
Cautioning the Association members not to fight for power, he stressed on the need for maintaining unity among the members. Underlining the need for taking independent decisions, bereft of any influence, he quoted the example of DSS and Raitha Sangha, which have split into groups over the years.
Regretting that many people from K.R. Pet Taluk were losing wealth and peace over expensive marriages and other functions, Krishna urged Mutts, organisations and the Government to come forward for stopping lavish marriages and such other functions.
Underlining the need for implementing Rain Water Harvesting System on a much larger scale, he called upon the Minor Irrigation Minister to follow Maharashtra Model for implementing rain-water harvesting system.
Reiterating the need for unity, Krishna said that the Association should work honestly and efficiently, in accordance with the hopes of K.R. Pet taluk residents living here.
Minor Irrigation Minister C.S. Puttaraju, in his address, expressed concern over depleting water levels in reservoirs, rivers, lakes and other water bodies and said that the State Government was focusing much on rain-water harvesting and for augmentation of ground water levels.
Mysuru District Minister G.T. Devegowda, in his address, stressed on the need for mass and simple marriages.
Pointing out that there are no gains from hosting lavish weddings, he said that one’s behaviour and attitude is more important than power.
Association President D.R. Venkatesh, in his address, said that there was no scope for any sort of politics in the Association.
Pointing out that service is the motto of the Association, he appealed the State Government to build a student hostel for K.R. Pet taluk residents in the city.
Vishwa Vokkaligara Maha-samsthana Mutt Seer Sri Kumar Chandrashekhara Swamiji, Kaginele Shakha Mutt Seer Sri Shivanandapuri Swamiji and Balehonnur Shakha Mutt Seer Sri Gangadhar Shivacharya Swamiji graced the occasion.
K.R. Pet MLA K.C. Narayana Gowda, Chamaraja MLA L. Nagendra, former K.R. Pet MLA B. Prakash, K.R. Pet BJP leader Bhookahalli Manjunath, MCC Corporator Sunanda Palanetra, leaders V. Manjegowda, Sarvamangala Venkatesh, K.T. Chandregowda, V.C. Cheluvegowda, Hubbanahalli Balaram, Association Hon. President H.V. Ganesh and others were present.
