Cops tell traders to approach Govt. through DC

Mysore/Mysuru: Tension prevailed for some time on K.T. Street here this morning as nearly 150 garments and electric home appliances dealers assembled near Dasaprakash Hotel Circle seeking permission to allow them to conduct business.

Following partial relaxation of COVID guidelines, the District Administration has allowed opening of shops selling essential items including shops selling construction related materials such as electrical items etc. from 6 am to 2 pm till July 5.

But traders of readymade garments and electric and electronic home appliances, who had closed the shops following COVID-induced lockdown, gathered near Dasaprakash Hotel Circle this morning seeking permission from the Police personnel to allow them to conduct business. They told the Police personnel that they too have suffered loses following closure of shops and as electric shops have been allowed to conduct business, they too must be allowed to do business.

Lashkar Inspector Suresh Kumar, Devaraja Inspector Diwakar and Devaraja Traffic Inspector Muniyappa, who arrived at the spot, told the traders that they do not make the rules and they are only enforcing the strict implementation of the laws and rules issued by the State Government and the District Administration.

They told the traders that they have to seek permission from the Government through the Deputy Commissioner and dispersed the crowd. Additional Police have been deployed on K.T. Street to implement the guidelines.
