‘Kadhalishri’ award to be presented to M.N. Sumana

17th anniversary of Kadhali Mahila Vedike tomorrow

Mysuru: Kadhali Mahila Vedike, Mysuru marking its 17th anniversary has organised a function in association with Akhila Bharata Sharana Sahitya Parishat tomorrow at 10am at Rajendra Bhavan in JSS Hospital premises here.

The occasion also marks the presentation of ‘Kadhalishri’ award to Social Activist and Advocate M.N. Sumana.

Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji and Sri Siddeshwara Swamiji of Gnanayogashrama, Vijayapura with grace the occasion.

Parishat President Dr. Basavaraj Sadhara will preside. Former ISRO Chairman Dr. A.S. Kirankumar will inaugurate the programme. JSS Publishing Division Director Morabada Mallikarjuna will release a book on modern women by Dr. Kavita Rai.

Profile: M.N. Sumana is the daughter of Thummanerale Nagaraj and Vimaladevi. Sumana drew inspiration from her father who was an advocate. For the last three decades Sumana is a popular advocate for family disputes and a notary too. She has taken part in women’s  movement and has fought for gender equality. She is a Trustee of Shakthidhama, Samatha Study Centre, Deenabandhu Kendra, Chamarajanagar and Shivasri Trust.

She is also the Syndicate Member of Akkamahadevi Women’s University and Member of Women Harassment Inquiry Committee of various colleges.

Sumana in married to N. Ramaravindra also an advocate. Their Children Anu.S. Nettar and Anoop S. Nettar are advocates in Netherlands.
