Mysuru: ‘Mysuru Dasara Kala Vaibhava,’ an exhibition and sale of products made by cottage industries of the district, organised by the State Directorate of Industries and District Industries Centre (DIC), commenced on Friday at JSS Urban Haat on Ring Road. The expo, open daily from 10 am to 9 pm, will conclude on Oct.7.
Inaugurating the expo, Minister for Tourism C.T. Ravi hailed the expo with over 60 stalls as a good platform for cottage industries to exhibit their products. He appealed to Dasara tourists to pay a visit to the expo and buy the exhibits to encourage the artisans.
State BJP Secretary M. Rajendra, JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Technical Education Director Dr. C. Ranganathaiah, DIC Jt. Director D.K. Lingaraju, Tourism Department Dy. Director Janardhan, JSS Urban Haat Project Officer M. Shivananda Swamy, Co-ordinator Rakesh Rai and others were present.
The 11-day expo displays handloom silk and cotton sarees, blankets, embroidery items, leather products, decorative items, Ayurveda and herbal medicines. Cultural programmes are arranged every day in the evening.
