Mysuru: As part of Varamahalakshmi festival, JSS Urban Haat has organised ‘Kalavaibhav-2018,’ an exhibition-cum-sale of handicrafts, sarees and many other items at its premises in Hebbal from Aug. 10 to 19. More than 80 Master craftpersons, Weavers, Co-operative Societies and Micro Industries from all over the country will display their finest crafts work.
The event will be inaugurated tomorrow at 4 pm by Tourism Minister S.R. Mahesh. District Minister G.T. Devegowda will preside. MLAs S.A.Ramdas, Tanveer Sait and L. Nagendra will be present.
National and State award- winning craftsmen will present live demonstrations of making various arts and crafts.
Some of the items which would be put up for display and sale are Punjabi Phulkari/Patiyala Suits, Bhagalpur Tassar Silk sarees/duppatta, Bastar Iron Craft from Madhya Pradesh, Horn Products, Grass Mats, Curtains, Jaipur Kurthas & Raprons, Kanjivaram Silk Sarees, Ilakal Kasuthi and Molakalmur sarees of Karnataka, Jute bags, Tassur silk sarees, Kantha stitch sarees, Banaras sarees and Dress Materials, Boutique sarees and Dress, Bengali Cotton sarees, Kashmir Handlooms, Wood Carving & furniture from Saharanpur, Wood Inlay, Chicken Embroidery and Madhubani Paintings.
The expo will be open from 10 am to 9 pm till Aug. 19 and there is no entry fee.
