Mysuru: The district administration has made all arrangements to celebrate Kanakadasa Jayanti in a grand manner on Nov.15, according to Additional DC (ADC) B.R. Poornima.
Presiding over a preparatory meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here yesterday, Poornima said that the Jayanti will be celebrated in a grand manner if there is no model code of conduct for by-polls. However the Jayanti must be celebrated in a simple manner if the model code of conduct comes into force, she added.
Pointing out that a procession will be taken out from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at the Palace North Gate to Kalamandira at 10 am on Nov.15, she said that a host of cultural troops will accompany the procession and the Police Department has been asked to provide necessary security.
The stage programme will take place at Kalamandira at 11.30 am, which will be inaugurated by District Minister V. Somanna. MLA L. Nagendra will preside, she said.
As the Government has declared holiday for the Jayanti, it is mandatory for all government employees to attend the event the ADC said and added that the heads of all departments should issue a circular in this regard.
Kannada and Culture Assistant Director H. Channappa, ZP Secretary Premkumar, former MLA M.K. Somashekar, Kuruba community leader Marigowda, Kannada activist Thayur Vittalamurthy and others were present.
