Kannada Book Authority motivates Jail inmates to read books

‘Nimma Manege Namma Pusthaka’

 Mysuru: Kannada Book Authority (KBA), marking its 25th anniversary, had organised an awareness programme titled ‘Nimma Manege Namma Pusthaka’ at the Central Jail here on Saturday to groom the inmates on the habit of reading books.

The programme was inaugurated by a group of jail inmates.

Speaking on the occasion, KBA Chairperson Dr. Vasundhara Bhoopathi said that the Authority has embarked on the mission to motivate the jail inmates to read books and added that such a programme was held in Kalaburagi also. She pointed out that reading books could rejuvenate the mind and body.

Motivating the inmates, Psychiatrist and writer Dr. C.R. Chandrashekar asked the inmates to introspect themselves. He said that reading books could take the inmates off boredom and loneliness. Jail Chief Superintendent Anand Reddy, Jailor Ashok Bajanti, writer Dr. Kalegowda Nagavara, KBA Administrative Officer Sowbhagya and others were present.
