Kannada Book Festival from Nov. 20 to 28

Mysore/Mysuru: To promote Kannada books, Bengaluru-based Rashtrotthana Sahitya Parishat will be organising Kannada Pustaka Habba (Kannada Book Festival) from Nov. 20 to 28 at Nanjaraj Bahadur Choultry on Vinoba Road in city.

Announcing this at a press meet here yesterday, the Festival Organising Committee Member Chetan Manjunath said that writer and former Kuvempu University Vice-Chancellor Dr.  K. Chidanandagowda will inaugurate the Book Festival at 6 pm tomorrow (Nov. 20).

Padma Shri awardee Harekala Hajabba of Dakshina Kannada district will felicitate Rajyotsava awardees of Mysuru region at 10.30 am on Nov. 21.

An interaction meet featuring librarians from educational Institutions and Public Libraries will take place at 4 pm on Nov. 27.

GSS Yoga Foundation Head Srihari, who is also an Organising Committee Member, said that the Kannada Book expo will be open on all days from 11 am to 9 pm till Nov. 28.

Pointing out that there will be a discount of 30 percent on all books published by Rashtrothana Sahitya Parishat, he said that there will be a 10 percent discount on books of other publications. Noting that the Book expo is expected to draw a good response from people of all ages, Srihari said that school students will be drawn to the expo with the theme Mobileninda Pustakadedege (from mobile phones to books).

Other Organising Committee Members Srinath, M.S. Paramananda and Mahesh Prasad were present at the press meet.
