Bengaluru: The decomposed body of Kannada film director Guruprasad, of ‘Mata’ and ‘Eddelu Manjunatha’ fame, was found hanging to the ceiling fan at his apartment in Madanayakanahalli, here this morning. He was 52. Police suspect it to be case of suicide.
While the exact reason for him taking to extreme step is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that Guruprasad was in deep debts and was being forced by the money lenders to return their money.
The incident came to light when foul smell started emanating from his apartment. Soon, the neighbours informed the Madanayakanahalli Police who rushed to the spot and conducted the mahazar before shifting the body to post mortem.
Having entered the film industry through ‘Mata’, Guruprasad directed movies such as ‘Eeddelu Manjunatha’, ‘Yeradane Sala’, ‘Director’s Special’. His latest movie ‘Ranga Nayaka’ released early this year did not do well in the box office.
Guruprasad, who had divorced his first wife, had a second marriage later. His tragic end has come as a shock for film buffs, actors and technicians of Kannada Film Industry.
