Kannada Kriya Samithi General Secretary S.R. Sudarshan passes away

Mysuru: S.R. Sudarshan (73), General Secretary of Kannada Kriya Samithi and a resident of Vijayanagar, passed away following a heart attack in city this morning. He was one of the founders of Nrupatunga School at Ramakrishnanagar here.

He leaves behind one daughter, one son and a host of relatives and friends.

Sudarshan had taken part in Gokak Chaluvali in the 80s through Kannada Kriya Samithi and was jailed for three days. He was elected as the General Secretary of the Samithi then and continued till his last breath.

As a Hon. Editor of Prasaranga, he had condensed English-Kannada dictionary of 25,000 words, which summarises the four-volume English-Kannada dictionary, which is being printed.

He was first appointed as the Assistant Editor of English-Kannada dictionary at Prasaranga. He was later promoted as its Assistant Director and retired as the Deputy Director in 2014. He had also served as a member of Karnataka Science Academy for three years and his work on Gokak Chaluvali has been published by Kannada Sahitya Parishat.

Body will be donated to a hospital, according to family sources.
