Karnatak vocal music concerts at Ganabharathi on Jan. 16

Mysuru: Ganabharathi has organised two Karnatak vocal music concerts on Jan. 16 at 6 pm at Veene Seshanna Bhavana in Kuvempunagar.

The first concert would be from 6 pm to 7.30 pm by Vid. Sanjay Nag and the second concert from 7.30 pm to 9 pm by Vid. Abhiram Bode. The accompanying artistes for both the concerts would be Vid. Achyutha Rao on violin, Vid. Kumaraswami on mridanga and Vid. Vikram on ghata.

Sanjay Nag, a budding vocalist, hails from a family of musicians. He is the grandson of late Vidushi Kamakshi Balasubramanyam, Vocalist and Veena artiste and also the grandson of Karnataka Kalashree late Vidwan Venkatadri Sharma, a gamaka exponent. He was initiated into music by his mother, Vidushi Sowbhagya Ravishankar at the tender age of 4. He has continued his advanced learning under the tutelage of Karnataka Kalashree Vidwan Dr. K. Varadarangan. He is also learning mridangam from Layakala Pratibhaman Vidwan T. S. Chandrashekar.

Vid. Abhiram Bode, being a disciple of Vid. R. A. Ramamani, is a promising artiste. He has performed in various sabhas  like Madras Music Academy, R. K. Srikantan Trust, Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha etc.

He has been awarded Nadakishora by Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha, has won prize in pallavi competition by R.K. Srikantan Trust and Gayana Samaja.

He is a recipient of scholarship by Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy.
