Karnataka Ball Badminton Premier League in city from tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: To promote ball badminton at School and University levels, Karnataka Ball Badminton Premier League tournament (KBBPL-2022) on the lines of IPL (Indian Premier League), will be held in city on Sept. 10 and 11.

Announcing this at a press meet here on Thursday, Mysuru District Ball Badminton Association President Lakshmish said that the tournament will take place at Hardwicke High School grounds along JLB road.

The tournament is being organised in association with Maharaja Ball Badminton Club and Ball Badminton Association of Karnataka, he said adding that this is the first such Ball Badminton League in the country and Mysuru is proud to host it.

Stating that 10 teams from across the State are participating, he said that the tournament will be held both in League and Knockout basis. 

Continuing, Lakshmish said that each team will have eight players and teams from Bengaluru, Kolar, Ballari, Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu and other districts will take part in the tournamnet.

Chamarajanagar MP V. Sreenivasa Prasad will inaugurate KBBPL-2022 tournament at 5 pm on Sept. 10.

Karnataka Government Employees Association State President C.S. Shadakshari, District President G. Govindaraju and others will be the chief guests.

Distribution of prizes will take place at 8 am on Sept. 11, in which Congress leader K. Harish Gowda, former Mayor Purushotham and other leaders will take part, Lakshmish said.

The tournament is divided into two categories — Pool A and Pool B. Pool A comprises five teams — Krishnarajanagar Kings, Himani Strikers, Twin B Sports Arena, Tumakuru Titans and Skull Six Astra.

Pool B teams are: Tumakuru’s Siddaganga Sri team, Maharaja Stars, Saravana Hebbal Stars, Hassanamba Challengeres and Shata Shrunga Warriors.

Association office-bearers Satyaranarayan, Nataraj, Mahadev, Murali and others were present at the press meet.
