Mysore/Mysuru: The all important K-CET (Karnataka – Common Entrance Test) – 2024 for admission to Under-Graduate professional courses (barring Medical and Dental courses) such as Engineering,Technology, Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Horticulture, Pharmacy etc., in colleges of Karnataka, began at 39 centres across the district, including 29 in Mysuru city alone, this morning.
As many as 17,200 eligible PUC (Science stream) passed students had enrolled for the exam in the city and district centres.
On the first day today, Biology paper was held in the morning session (10.30 to 11.50 am), while Mathematics paper was held in the afternoon session (2.30 to 3.50 pm). The exam is being held in offline (Pen and Paper) mode, eight days after the second PU Board exam results were announced on Apr. 10.
Tomorrow (Apr. 19), the Physics paper will be held in the morning session, followed by Chemistry paper in the afternoon session, thus marking the completion of the K-CET in respect of the four core subjects. The Kannada language test for Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadigas will take place on Apr. 20.
The students appearing for the exam were required to carry their K-CET 2024 admit card along with one valid Photo ID proof to the exam centre. They were advised to follow all the K-CET guidelines and instructions on the exam day. The students were also required to strictly adhere to K-CET dress code while appearing for the exam. All the halls in the exam centres were installed with CCTV cameras as a fool-proof measure.
The Police had made elaborate security arrangements around all the exam centres in the city for ensuring smooth conduct of the exam. The Police had also enforced prohibitory orders in 200 mts. radius around all the exam centres from 6 am to 6 pm and all the photocopy shops in the vicinity of the centres were asked to shut down on both days of the exam.
Top officials of the District Administration and the Pre-University Education Department visited the exam centres and supervised the conduct of the exam.
Nearly 3.5 lakh students are writing the exam at 737 centres spread across the State, with 167 centres in Bengaluru city alone.
