Mysore/Mysuru: Dr. K.N. Amruthesh, Professor & Chairman, Department of Studies in Botany, University of Mysore, has been conferred with the prestigious Karnataka Science & Technology Academy (KSTA) Fellowship for the year 2022 for his significant contributions in the field of Agricultural Sciences.
He has extensively worked on plant-microbe interaction including eco-friendly appro-aches of host plant management against biotic and abiotic stresses. He has reported two new parasitic angiosperms and 12 new phytopathogens to science including a new pathotype of downy mildew pathogen on pearl millet hybrid MLBH104, which has saved many poor farmers from severe economic loss.
Dr. Amruthesh is the Programme Co-ordinator for the State Government Funded Programme of Establishment of Centre of Innovative Studies in Engineering and Education (CISEE) on the thrust area ‘Herbal Drug Technology’ at the Department. He has guided 14 Ph.D scholars for their doctoral degree and 3 Post-Doctoral degree. He is the Principal Investigator for the research projects funded by DST, UGC, DBT, UGC- MHRD- IOE Project. and Government of Karnataka, Department of Forest on PBR.
A recipient of several awards/ distinctions, he is also serving additionally in various capacities at the University of Mysore as IQAC Coordinator, Co-ordinator- CSIR/ UGC NET Training Centre & E-Attestation Officer.
