Mysuru’s chess players R. Raju Prasad (U-14 boys) and Hemadri Satish (U-14 girls) fared well taking part in the Karnataka State U-14 Chess Championships, which concluded in Mangaluru yesterday.
Raju Prasad secured the 10th place in the boys U-14 section with 7 points from 9 rounds in the U-14 boys section, while city’s S.Y. Yashwanth finished 48th with 5 points and Niranjan Hegde finished 79th with 4 points. Shiva Chethan of Dakshina Kannada won the title with 8.5 points from nine rounds.
In the U-14 girls section, K.Deepti Lakshmi of Dakshina Kannada triumphed with 8 points from 9 rounds. P.Dhanyashree of Hassan with 7.5 points secured the second place. Mysore’s Hemadri Satish secured the 9th place with 7 points from 9 rounds while S. Kannika Gowda secured the 50th place with 5 points.
In the boys U-17 section, Shashank Bhat of Udupi won the title with 8 points. Mysore’s Abhi Nayak secured 6.5 points and finished 13th. In the U-17 girls section, Tanisha Shital of Dharwad won the title with 8 points. Kodagu’s Priyanka Narayan with 8 points finished second. Mysore’s K.R. Madhu secured 6 points and finished 28th, while S. Chandana with 4 points secured the 92nd place.
