Mysuru’s chess players K.R. Yashaskara Jois scoring 7 points from 8 rounds and former State Women’s Chess Champion H.R. Manasa with 7 points from 8 rounds won the U-19 Open and U-19 Girls Chess titles respectively in the Karnataka State U19 Open & Girls Chess Tournament which concluded at Kalaburagi yesterday.
Yashaskara Jois won his final round game against Arunandukam and clinched the coveted title with 7 points from 8 rounds. Nithin Bhat of Sirsi finished second with 6.5 points and was followed by M.D. Chiranth with 6.5 points. Srinidhi Kulkarni with 6.5 points and Sudharshan Bhat with 6 points secured the fourth and fifth places respectively.
In the U-19 girls section, Mysuru girl H.R. Manasa drew her final round game with Bhagyashree G. Patil and with 7 points from 8 rounds clinched the title.
Bengaluru’s G. Kruti finished second with 6 points, followed by Shriya R. Revankar with 6 points. Rajashree and Swaralakshmi S. Nair with 6 points secured the fourth and fifth places respectively.
