Karnataka in strong position

Hosts Karnataka were in a strong position, after having reduced Uttar Pradesh who chasing a target of 294-runs for a outright win were struggling at six for two in 7.1 overs in their second innings, at the end of the second day’s play in the four-day Col. C.K. Nayadu U-23 Tournament played at the SDNR Wadiyar Platinum Jubilee grounds yesterday.

Resuming their second innings at 75 for three in 28 over, Uttar Pradesh were bowled out for 127 in 42.2 overs. T. Pradeep impressed with a five-wicket haul (five for 27) and was well supported by left-arm spinner J. Suchith who picked up four for 26. Karnataka secured a vital first innings lead of 101-runs.

In their second essay, Karnataka scored 192 in 59 overs. Opener and skipper Nischal top scored with 51 (5x4s), Shreyas  (39 n.o, 4x4s) and B. Anurag (27, 3x4s, 1x6s) were the other scorers. Needing 294-runs to win, Uttar Pradesh lost 2 quick wickets and were reduced to 6 for 2 in 7.2 overs and they further require 288-runs with 8-wickets in hand for an outright win.
