Mysore/Mysuru: ‘Kathak Nritya-Raag Manjari,’ the Annual Programme of ‘Jhankar Nritya Shikshayatan,’ a Kathak Dance School in city, will be held at Ganabharathi’s Ramagovinda Kalavedike in Kuvempunagar on July 27 at 5 pm.
Karnataka Kalashree Dr. H.K. Sheela Sridhar, a renowned professional in Bharatanatyam and Bharathi Vittal, eminent Guru and Visionary Artiste of Kathak & Bharatanatyam, will be the chief guests.
Jhankar Nritya Shikshayatan Annual Programme-2025 is specially curated by Guru Praveena Mitali Ghosh with emphasis on the role of Ragas (Hindustani) for a holistic Kathak dance experience.
It is a 3-part programme — Vandana: celebrating bhakti through popular bhajan and ashtakam; Shudh Kathak: Traditional dance styles exhibiting intricate foot work, precise movements and rhythmic variations and Gat Bhaav: combines the elegant movements with the depth of emotion, allowing the dancer to tell stories.
In this programme, Guru Mitali Ghosh and her students from beginner to senior levels will be participating as a homage to their learnings of Kathak dance form.

Guru Praveena Mitali Ghosh began her passionate Kathak journey at a very tender age. She is a well-known Lucknow Gharana Kathak exponent in Mysuru with a wealth of over 20 years of teaching and performing dance.
She is considered as one of the elitist to have trained by late Pt. Vijay Shankar and Preethi Chatterjee, Kolkata. She has been awarded the title of ‘Shiromani’ and a gold medal from Shastriya Sangeeth Parishad, Kolkata and recently a proud beholder of the title Praveena Sangeetacharya by Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Prayagraj.
Mitali established a specialised Kathak learning centre ‘Jhankar Nritya Shikshayatan’ in the year 2011 in Mysuru. Since its inception, Jhankar Nritya Shikshayatan has been busy churning out competitive students not only from Mysuru and Bengaluru, but also spanning across other States.
Till date, Jhankar Nritya Shikshayatan has trained hundreds of students and is flourishing well by providing academic platform under Akhila Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyala, Pune. Also, she is extending her services to the field of Kathak dance by taking on a role as Guest Lecturer in Karnataka State Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University, Mysuru.
As a perpetuation of her dedication in the field of Kathak dance, Guru Mitali is currently learning the art of Modern Kathak from none other than Guru Madhumita Roy, an ex-student of late Pandit Birju Maharaj — Father of Kathak Dance.
Guru Mitali has charmed Mysureans with her captivating Kathak performance, in various celebrated auditoriums like Jaganmohan Palace, Kalamandira, Maharaja’s College Grounds for Yuva Dasara, Ganabharathi to name a few.
