Kollegal: The Bedagampana Hitarakshana Samiti has urged the authorities not to allow Immadi Mahadevaswamy, the prime accused in Sulwadi Temple Tragedy case, to Salur Mutt.
At the Samiti meeting held at M.M. Hills in Hanur taluk yesterday, the speakers said that the poisoning of prasadam at Sulwadi Maramma Temple was a heinous crime in which Immadi Mahadevaswamy is involved. As such, he must not be allowed to enter the Salur Mutt again.
The Bedagampana community has been worshipping Mahadeshwara Swamy for centuries and as such, it was high time that a Bedagampana community member be appointed as the head of Salur Mutt.
Maintaining that Salur Mutt belonged to Bedagampana community, the speakers demanded formation of a Council for the development of the Mutt.
Claiming that the Mutt owned properties at many places including Mysuru, Bengaluru, Kollegal and Kanakapura, they urged the authorities to register all the properties in the name of Salur Mutt, so that the Mutt properties are not misappropriated by anyone.
Earlier, the meeting observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the dead devotees.
Community leaders Nagappa, Puttappa, Puttanna, Kemparaju, Shivamurthy and others attended the meeting.
