Kerala man accused of cheating city egg trader

Mysore/Mysuru: A man from Kerala has cheated a wholesale egg trader in city of Rs. 1.12 lakh after purchasing eggs from him.

Iqbal Shariff, a resident of Gandhinagar in city, who runs South Indian Egg Centre, is the egg trader who has been cheated. He supplies eggs at wholesale price to various districts of the State and also to Kerala.

On May 27, one Arshad of Waynad in Kerala purchased 30,000 eggs for Rs. 1,12,440 and told Iqbal to deliver the eggs to Waynad and collect the amount.

Accordingly, on June 1, Iqbal sent eggs in a goods vehicle to Waynad and Arshad after unloading the eggs told the driver that he has deposited the money to the bank account of Iqbal and gave him the deposit challan. But the transaction details of Iqbal’s bank account did not show that the money was deposited to his account. When Iqbal enquired at the Sultan Bathery SBI Bank, the bank officials reportedly told him that as Arshad had committed mistakes in the cheque, the cash was not deposited to his (Iqbal) bank account and gave the cheque Arshad had given to the Bank.

But when Iqbal tried to contact Arshad over the phone many times, his phone was switched off and Arshad was unable to  be contacted.

With no other options left, Iqbal lodged a complaint with NR Police who are investigating.
