Kerala youth killed in accident near new Nanjangud flyover

Nanjangud: A two-wheeler rider was killed on the spot while the pillion rider sustained minor injuries when a KSRTC bus hit the bike and ran over the rider near the new Nanjangud flyover this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Sharath (23), son of Prakash Manjeri, a B.Sc. student and a resident of Malappuram district in Kerala. The injured is Jinu, son of Ayub, also a B.Sc. student from the same district.

According to the Police, Sharath and Jinu were travelling on their Royal Enfield bike (KL-10-AY-9592) from Kerala towards Mysuru, while the KSRTC bus (KA-10-F-0128) was also heading towards Mysuru.

As Sharath and Jinu were taking a turn towards the new flyover, the KSRTC bus, which was also turning, reportedly brushed against the bike, causing Sharath to fall on the road. The bus then ran over him, killing him on the spot.

Nanjangud Traffic Police rushed to the scene and shifted the body to the Government Hospital mortuary. They also registered a case. Witnesses said that Jinu, who sustained minor injuries, was taken away by his relatives.
