Mysuru: ‘Kisan Adhikara Yatre,’ organised by Rashtriya Kisan Maha Sangha to cover from Kashmir to Kanyakumari urging the Government to provide scientific support price for agricultural produce as per Dr. M.S. Swaminathan Report, will arrive in city on Aug.14.
In that context, a meeting of farmer leaders was held yesterday at PWD Guest House in Nazarbad chaired by State Sugarcane Growers Association President Kurubur Shantakumar.
Addressing the meeting,Shantakumar said that the State farmers were not getting good price for about 2.75 lakh tonnes of agricultural produce putting the farmers in a difficult situation.
He added that about 4.6 crore tonnes of Sugarcane is expected this year and regretted that dues from Sugar factories for 2017-18 was yet to be cleared. He appealed all farmers to welcome the Yatre and make it successful.
