Guddehosur: A 65-year-old woman, affected by the recent floods in Kodagu, has died of heart attack at her relative’s house, where she had taken shelter after the floods destroyed her house and plantation. The deceased woman has been identified as Chandravathi, wife of late Maniyappana Poovaiah and a resident of Haleri Kadanakolli in Madikeri taluk.
After losing her house and eight acre coffee plantation to the floods, Chandravathi had moved to her relative’s house in Basavanahalli along with her 25-year-old son Mithan. On Aug.26, Mithan had been to his place and was devastated to see the house and plantation destroyed. After coming back to the relative’s house, Mithan explained to his mother about the house and plantation which were destroyed. When Chandravathi heard about her house and plantation being destroyed in the floods, she suffered heart attack and breathed her last. Her last rites could not be performed in her own land, which has pained her son and relatives. Chandravathi’s last rites were performed at Gowda Samaja Cremation Ground in Kushalnagar.
