Bengaluru: The rescue team, which was searching for the body of a Kodagu youth Sachin Machaiah, who had gone missing after the coracle he was riding in capsized at Kalkere Lake in the wee hours of Saturday, was fished out yesterday after a 20- hour-long operation.
Sachin Machaiah (30), who was employed with a private company at Manyata Tech Park and lived in Electronic City.
Sachin is a native of Hatur village in Kodagu. He and his friend Ullas had partied till late Friday night before they picked up a coracle from the lakeside and ventured into the water at about 3 am when the coracle capsized after the duo lost balance. His friend Ullas, a resident of Ramamurthynagar, escaped by swimming to the shore, Police said.
Police sought the help from the rescue team of Fire and Emergency Services, which started the search operation at the crack of dawn on Saturday. The search was suspended around 6 pm following darkness and was resumed at around 6 am on Sunday.
Finally at 1.30 pm, the rescue team fished out Sachin’s body and shifted it to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Medical College Hospital where post-mortem was conducted and the body was then handed over to Sachin’s family.
Ramamurthynagar Police have registered a case of an unnatural death based on the complaint filed by Sachin’s relatives yesterday.
