KPCC Women’s Wing gets new President

Bengaluru: Former MLA Sowmya Reddy, daughter of Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, has been appointed as the new State President of KPCC (Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee) Women’s Wing. She replaces Dr. Pushpa Amarnath, a former Mysuru ZP President, who held the post for almost six years.

Sowmya Reddy who was elected from Jayanagar Assembly segment in Bengaluru city in the 2018 Assembly Polls, however, lost the 2023 Assembly Polls by a very thin margin to C.K. Ramamurthy of the BJP. She had also unsuccessfully contested from Bengaluru South Constituency on a Congress ticket in the 2024 LS polls , losing to Tejaswi Surya of the BJP by a huge margin.

Though there were many aspirants for the post, Sowmya Reddy was appointed as the President of KPCC Women’s Wing.
