Mysuru: A two- day Krishi Mela to showcase various achievements of agriculture and research activities, besides to provide a platform for farmers to find solutions to problems related to agriculture and horticulture will be held on Nov. 24 and 25 at Zonal Agriculture Station, V.C. Farm in Mandya.
The Mela is organised by University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru (UAS-B) Zonal Agriculture Research Station in association with Krishi Vignan Kendra, Mandya, Department of Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Forest, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences of Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Chamarajanagar and Tumakuru Districts and Cauvery Command Area Development Authority.
A demonstration on hybrid crops of ragi, jowar, maize, paddy, sugarcane, fodder and horticulture crops is also organised. Demonstration on adopting drip irrigation technology to sugarcane and paddy crops, tissue culture, water management technology, production of chemical-free jaggery too has been arranged.
Display of hybrid cow, and cattle, information on alternative crops other than sugar cane and paddy, achievements in dairy farming and other information on empowerment to farmers will be available at the Mela. Farmers and interested students can attend this event. An exhibition of various hybrid crops/machineries and seminars on farming sector are on cards.
