Mysuru: The State Executive meeting of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) and Hasiru Sene was held at the premises of Agricultural Market Study Centre on Hunsur Road here on Sunday.
The meeting focused on drafting plans to provide assistance to drought and flood-hit parts of the State and also to mobilise farmers to participate in the farmers’ rallies to be held in New Delhi on Oct. 2 and Nov.30.
Speaking on the occasion, KRRS General Secretary Badagalapura Nagendra said that a National-level farmers meet will be held in New Delhi on Oct.2 and a rally by Akhila Bharata Kisan Sangharsha Sahakara Samiti on Nov.30. He further said that farmer leader and MP Raju Shetty would table two private Bills in favour of farmers during the Winter Session of Parliament.
The farmer leaders of various districts at the meeting opined that owing to agricultural activities many farmers would not be able to participate in the Oct.2 rally but assured to make up the number for the Nov.30 rally.
KRRS office-bearers of various districts were advised to hold workshop for young farmers from Sept.21 to 23 at Hondarabalu in Chamarajanagar district and make it a grand success.
KRRS President K.T. Gangadhar, District President Basavaraj and representatives of all districts were present.
Kisan Kranti Yatra from Sept.23
Speaking to press persons later, Gangadhar said that a Kisan Kranti Yatra would be taken out from Sept.23 to Oct.2 to urge the government to fulfil various demands of farmers including waiving of farm loans. The yatra would commence from Haridwar on Sept.23 and conclude on Oct.2 at Kisan Ghat in Delhi. He added that lakhs of farmers from all over the country would participate in the yatra.
Gangadhar said that the Central BJP Government had failed to implement the Swaminathan Report and added that the concept of support price for agri-products lacked substance. He urged the government to instruct banks to stop issuing notices to farm loans defaulters.
He said that PM Narendra Modi was giving false and baseless assurances to farmers and added that the PM was floating old schemes as new ones just to take credit from farmers and ultimately misleading the farmers.
