Mysore/Mysuru: Strongly condemning the amendments to APMC, Karnataka Land Reforms and Seed Acts and as well as the privatisation moves of the Power sector, the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) and Hasiru Sene will stage demonstrations in front of all Gram Panchayat (GP) offices in the State from June 27 to 30.
Announcing this at a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday, KRRS President Badagalapura Nagendra said that as a first step, the demonstrations will be held in front of 1,000 GP offices, in which several farmer associations, Dalit groups and Communist Parties will take part.
Stating that earlier, the KRRS had staged demonstrations in front of the houses of Legislators and Deputy Commissioner’s Offices across the state, Nagendra said that the Statewide protest from tomorrow will be the third phase of demonstration against the Government, which he accused of acting against the interests of farmers.
Seminar on June 27
Continuing, he said that a Mysuru region seminar on the ill effects of the amendments to Acts will be held at Kyathanahalli in Pandavapura Taluk, the native village of late farmer leader and MLA K.S. Puttannaiah on June 27, in which several intellectuals, social activists and farmer leaders will take part. The seminar will be followed by an interaction with peasant community, he added.
Nagendra also demanded free treatment for all COVID-19 patients of the State.
KRRS office-bearers Lokeshraje Urs, Saragur Nataraj, Vijayadevaraje Urs, P. Marankaiah and Chandregowda were present at the press meet.
