Bengaluru: The much awaited semi-final clash between Mysore Warriors and Hubli Tigers will take place at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru this evening.
Warriors, inspired by their skipper Karun Nair, who has been in a scintillating form this season, finished second in the points table with 12 points winning six out of their 10 matches in the league stage.
Hubli Tigers, who finished third in the points table, will be looking to bounce back after having faced defeats in the last couple of matches. However, the momentum is expected to be with the Warriors who are beaming in confidence after winning their previous two encounters.
Overall both the teams have met eight times in the KSCA Maharaja T20 out of which Mysore Warriors have won six matches with Hubli Tigers emerging victorious in just two.
For Mysore Warriors, Karun Nair has blasted 490 runs in 10 innings striking at 187.7 with four half-centuries and a 124 not out against Mangaluru Dragons. Medium pacer C.A. Karthik is leading wicket taker for Warriors with 14 wickets from nine matches. All-rounder Manoj Bhandage has scored a total of 222 runs with a whopping strike rate of 196.5 and also scalping eight wickets so far. Another Warrior who could play a vital role in today’s match will be J. Suchith, the left-arm orthodox, who has so far scalped 11 wickets in the tournament. Having the ability to produce crucial cameos in the slog overs, Suchith could be a game changer.
Meanwhile, the wounded Hubli Tigers will depend on K.L. Shrijith who is the leading run getter for the Tigers with 329 runs in tournament. He hammered 100 in just 51 deliveries against Gulbarga Mystics in one of the matches played in the league stage. Contributions from dashing batter Mohammed Taha will also be crucial. And of course, Manish Pandey, the veteran, who has the ability to change the course of the match, will have to come out with his best in the middle order for the Tigers to reach the finals.
Fans of both Mysore Warriors and Hubli Tigers will be glued to their television sets hoping the team they support would emerge victorious to face Bengaluru Blasters in tomorrow’s finals.
