Mysuru: The recent nominations to the Board of Management (BoM) of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) has been stayed by the orders of the new Government.
The members, who were nominated to the BoM, were all from the education field and they included Dattagalli resident Dr. Hiriyanna, Lakshmipuram resident Prof. S.P. Umadevi, Bogadi’s Prof.D.S. Leelavathi, Vijayanagar’s Dr. S. Marigowda and JSS College Assistant Professor Dr. M.N. Nandeesh.
Education Department (Universities) Additional Secretary M.A. Ahmed had issued a notification dated July 20, 2019 regarding the new nominations to KSOU BoM.
As there were objections to the nominations, the former Higher Education Minister G.T. Devegowda had in a statement clarified that the appointments to the Syndicates and Boards of Managements of Universities had been done in a transparent manner without giving scope for any corruption and if the allegations made against him were proved he would retire from politics.
However, in the changed political circumstances, after the BJP Government came to power, the orders of the previous Government have all been stayed. CM B.S. Yediyurappa has directed the Chief Secretary to immediately stay the appointments of Chairmen, Vice-Chairmen and Members to the Boards, Corporations and Authorities.
In the light of this order, the nominations to the Board of Management to KSOU has also been stayed until further orders.
