Kudos to Mysuru Lit Fest team

Sir,

A wall-to-wall public turnout at the huge Senate Bhavan. That too for an English literary event?! Kudos to Prof. K.C. Belliappa and team for “literally” pulling off a “coup” by turning Mysuru Lit Fest into a “Baahubali-like block-buster” last Sunday.

And, in terms of audience-traction, the event presented quite a challenge to the clashing schedule of the “Super Bowl Sunday” of Indo-Pak Cricket on June 18 !

Personally, I was enchanted by the “Pentalogue” (Five Commandments) delivered by Dr. Ramachandra “Moses” Guha (with the improvised addition of his “Sixth Commandment” – “Thou shalt not exaggerate” – he hit a neat “Sixer”!) and I enjoyed my first-ever taste of Prof. S.L.  Bhyrappa’s oration in English. Prof. Harish Trivedi’s talk on the “Status of English in India” was equally remarkable, with perceptive observations and enlightening comments.

I take this opportunity to record my deepest appreciation to each one of the team members for serving such a “gourmet feast of letters” to the English-language enthusiasts of Mysuru. I am sure Prof. Belliappa’s guru Prof. CDN would have been delighted by the success of this event.
