Mysuru, Oct. 19 (PM&BS)- Kumbarakoppal Sri Mahadeshwara Swamy Jatra Mahotsav, is scheduled to be held from Oct. 21 to 23. Mahadeshwara Swamy temple is the centre of attraction and hence the works are on to give a new look to the temple, along with other temples of the village, with a fresh coat of paint.
Like every year, jatra is organised by Kumbarakoppal Abhyudaya Sangha. The rituals on Oct. 21 will begin with a special puja to the presiding deity, along with other temples at the village namely; Varasiddhi Vinayaka temple located within Mahadeshwara Swamy temple complex, Maramma temple, Banni Maramma temple and Sri Basaveshwara temple.
The festive mood has already set, with the temples and prominent roads in the village illuminated for the religious event.
On Oct. 22, Halaravi and Baayi Beega utsava will begin from Tippaji pond on KRS road and will proceed through the main thoroughfares of the village, before culminating at Mahadeshwara temple.
On Oct. 23 at 2 am, Hulivahana Utsava of Sri Mahadeshwara Swamy is scheduled, following which Kondotsava will be held at 12 noon.
As part of the Jatra, traditional wrestling competitions have been organised at Sri Kempegowda stadium near the temple on Oct. 23. As many as 25 pairs of wrestlers, will be slugging-it-out at the tournament. The 30-minute bout between Pailwan Chetan Gowda of Nazarbad in the city and Pailwan Soofiyan of Bengaluru, is expected to be the lengthiest fight ever.
‘Deepavali Cup-2025’ Kabaddi tournament, has been organised at the same stadium from Oct. 21 to 23. The champions will be rewarded with a cash prize of Rs. 75,000 along with a trophy, while runner-up will get Rs. 50,000.
The teams securing third and fourth place will be presented Rs. 20,000 each along with a trophy.
