Kuppanna Park beckons visitors

As part of this year’s Dasara Flower Show at Kuppanna Park in Mysuru city, artist J. Umashankar, along with his team, has created stunning floral replicas of the Old Parliament House (picture above), Basavanna’s Anubhava Mantapa and the Legislative Assembly Hall, all crafted from millions of flowers inside the huge Glass House in the park premises. Dutch Cut Roses, Kolkata Chrysanthemum, Orchids, Anthurium, Gypsy, Carnation and various other decorative flowers are used. The Flower Show, which was inaugurated today, will be open to visitors till Oct. 13 from 9 am to 8.30 pm.  [Pics by M.N. Lakshminarayana Yadav]

A replica of Anubhava Mantapa, which holds historical significance as a 12th-century forum created by the revolutionary Basavanna, where saints from all religions convened to promote social reform and equality.

The teachings of Gautama Buddha showcased in the form of a Legislative Assembly (Praja Pratinidhi Sabhe), recreating the assembly hall with thousands of flowers conveying the spiritual and philosophical lessons from Buddha’s time.
