Mysuru: Marking its 40th anniversary, Gramantara Buddhijeevigala Balaga, K.R. Nagar, will be organising a State-level ‘Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Sahityotsava’ at the Institution of Engineers-India (IEI) in city on Feb. 23.

Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr. Mahesh Joshi will inaugurate at 10.30 am. Balaga President Dr. Bherya Ramakumar will preside. Journalist Amshi Prasannakumar, writer Dr. Soujanya Sharath and social worker Jubeda will be the chief guests.

Six works of poets and writers that will be released are ‘Hrudayaraaga’ by Kodagu poet M.D. Aiyyappa, Pune-based writer Hema Malagi’s works ‘Hrudaya’, ‘Kavana Sangama’ and ‘Kavya Dhaare’, Writer Rathna Chandrashekar’s work ‘Kaavya Taranga’ and  Advocate B.K. Nutan Kumar’s  work                               ‘Modala Todalu.’

Mysuru Journalist Amshi Prasannakumar, Haveri’s Environmentalist Jagadish Maharajpet and theatre artiste Prof. H.A. Parshvanath will be feted with Prof. HSK Centenary Award.

Mysuru-based renowned poetess Dr. Latha Rajashekar, K.R. Hospital Doctor Dr. J.B. Narendra and Mysuru-based writers Dr. A. Pushpa Iyengar and Vydehi Iyengar will be conferred with ‘Suvarna Karnataka.’

SC Welfare Department State Officer D.G. Gurushantappa will deliver a talk on Kuvempu. Dr. K.R. Gautam will inaugurate eye donation camp. Farmer leader Saragur Nataraj will inaugurate environment awareness event.

Also, following achiever couples of different fields will be conferred ‘Suvarna Karnataka Apoorva Dampati’ award: Dr. M.C. Raju Doddamandiganahalli and Revathi of Hassan; Dr. K.R. Gautam and Dr. Vanishri of K.R. Nagar; Dr. Revanna Ballari and Shakuntala; Gopal Deshpande and Sandhyarani Deshpande, Byadagi; H.K. Obegowda and Kamalamma of Hosa Agrahara & Y.S. Sathyanarayana and Bharathi of K.R. Nagar.

‘Vishwamaanya Kannadiga’ award will be conferred on Giriraj Honnashettihalli, a senior poet of Hassan; Dr. Soujanya Sharathchandra, a Bengaluru-based  woman writer; Eeramandala Harini Vijay, Kodagu actress and writer; Latha Sudarshan of Mysuru’s Padmashri Jain Mahila Samaj; Zabiulla Baig, a social worker of Channarayapatna; C. Raghavendra, young entrepreneur; Razak Puttur, lyricist; Sujatha Ravish, noted writer; Hema D. Malagi, Pune-based litterateur, Khader, Police Sub-Inspector of Gokarna in Uttara Kannada district and M.N. Monalisa, a singer.

This apart, Kodagu Poet M.D. Aiyyappa, Physically challenged Poet Bandihole Manjunath, Advocate and poet B.K. Nutan Kumar, writer K.V. Ramesh Kattepura and noted Poetess Rathna Chandrashekar will be conferred ‘Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Kavya Chetana’ award.

Woman artist Shaya Devisute Maravanthe of Maravanthe in Uttara Kannada and Mysuru-based singer Muttulakshmi Ramachandra will be conferred ‘Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Samskrutika Chetana’ award.

Farmer leader Saragur Nataraj and K.R. Pet’s traditional underground water expert Navilumaranahalli Ramegowda will be conferred ‘Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Krishi Chetana’ award.

Writer Jayashri Dr. Krishna of Hassan will inaugurate Kuvempu Poets Meet. Physically challenged poet Bandihole Manjunath will preside. Bengaluru-based writer Dr. Soujanya Sharath and USA-based poetess Savitha Ravishankar will be the chief guests.
