Two gold chains worth Rs. 2.80 lakh recovered

Mysuru: Kuvempunagar Police have arrested a youth who had robbed a woman of her gold chain. Two gold chains weighing 40 grams worth Rs. 2.80 lakh have been recovered from him, besides seizing the scooter used for the crime.

The accused is identified as 27-year-old Vinay Kumar, a resident of Gundlupet town in Chamarajanagar district.

He was nabbed within 24 hours of registering the complaint.

On Oct. 18 at about 4.30 pm, Vinay, riding two-wheeler had snatched a gold chain weighing 30 grams worth Rs. 2 lakh from a woman, identified as Kamala, on the cross road in Maduvana Layout before speeding away, it is said.

Kamala had lodged a complaint at Kuvempunagar Police Station here.

Kuvempunagr Police, who had registered a case, collected footages of CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity of the crime spot and succeeded in tracking the details of the accused and the scooter he had used to commit the crime.

The investigators finally traced Vinay, arrested him and seized the scooter worth Rs. 70,000 besides recovering two gold chains weighing 40 grams  worth Rs. 2.80 lakh from him.

DCP (Crime and Traffic) S. Jahnavi and KR Sub-Division ACP H.B. Ramesh, guided Kuvempunagar Inspector L. Arun, Sub-Ins pector Gopal, Crime Division staff V. Anand, K.T. Manjunath, Maheshwar, H.V. Manju, Nagesh, Yashwanth, Hazarath and Suresh in the nabbing and recovery operation.
