Bengaluru: The State Government has decided to take steps to promote popular poem written by Rashtrakavi Kuvempu, “Negila Hidida Holadali Hadutha Uluva Yogiya Nodalli…” by making it as a caller tune and ringtone for mobile phones.
Agriculture Minister B.C. Patil, in a recent statement, said: “In an effort to spread message about the importance of farmers in our society, the State Government would advise people including scientists, officers and other staff members working in Agricultural Universities and Agriculture Departments as well as farmers to use this poem as caller tune and ringtone in their mobile phones. This poem is popular in Karnataka and very effectively conveys the message about the importance of farmers. On hearing this notable poetic song, I have seen people standing up as a mark of respect to farmers.”
Recently, the Government had directed to use ‘Jai Kisan’ instead of saying ‘Hello’ after receiving a phone call.
