‘Labour Welfare Card’ distributed to 500 Construction Workers

Builders’ Association of India (BAI), Mysuru Centre, has organised a function at Nityotsava Convention Hall near Ashoka Circle (Ballal Circle) in Krishnamurthypuram here this morning for distribution of ‘Labour Welfare Card’ to construction workers.

About 500 construction workers were given away the Labour Welfare Cards issued by the Department of Labour qualifying them to enjoy various benefits extended by the Government.

Inaugurating the programme, Meena Patil, Assistant Commissioner, Department of Labour, opined that farmers and construction workers evolve wonderful end products in food and attractive buildings respectively. She observed that many materials in nature are in raw form and the skilled workforce toil to come out with good products.

Briefing the construction workers on the features of the Labour Welfare Card, she said that construction workers need not toil under the unorganised sector and asked them to be aware of the schemes of the Government.

She further said that by paying just Rs. 150 for three years, the card holder and family members can enjoy various benefits like education allowance and loan for two children, maternity leave and benefits for women employees, hospitalisation charges, compensation for accidents and many more.

Bigg Boss Season-4 winner Pratham was the guest of honour. BAI Mysuru Centre Chairman N. Subramanya, Hon. Secretary B.S. Dinesh and Members of Construction Workers Welfare Committee were present on the occasion.
