Mysore/Mysuru: City’s Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha has organised a special musical ensemble ‘Laya Vinyasa’, conceptualised by Vidwan Tumkur B. Ravishankar, on their YouTube channel on Saturday (Sept.12) at 5 pm.
This programme is dedicated to mridanga maestro, Vidwan Guru Karaikudi R. Mani, one of the all time greatest mridanga players, on the occasion of his 75th birthday, which falls on Sept.11. He is known for bringing mridanga, the Indian percussion instrument on the central platform of global music. He has the credit of working with almost all great percussionists across the globe, besides being an acclaimed teacher.
Well-known and talented young artistes have enriched the special ensemble by their performance. The team consists of Vidwans Tumkur B. Ravishankar on mridanga, Guru Prasanna on Khanjira, U. Giridhara Udupa on ghata, H. N. Bhaskar on violin and V. Vamshidhar on flute.
