Mysuru: The elections to the Karnataka State Assembly is round the corner and the leaders and the supporters of political parties are making all efforts to garner seats to contest.
The Congress party is no exception as the Congress Bhavan near the City Railway Station was a beehive of activity this morning. The aspirants, with their supporters in toe, made their way to the office to stake claims before MLC Narayanswamy and former MLA of Basavanagudi Chandrashekar, the observers for the party, who have come on the direction of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee.
There are many aspirants for the tickets among the Congress in all the three constituencies in Mysuru. The KR Constituency has three aspirants including sitting MLA M.K. Somashekar, former State Women’s Commission Chairperson Manjula Manasa and Karnataka Exhibition Authority Chairman B. Siddaraju. All the three aspirants came with their supporters to appeal to the observers.
Surprisingly N.R. Constituency aspirant Tanveer Sait, who is also Minister in the present Government was conspicuous by his absence, though his supporters came in large numbers to seek a ticket on his behalf. Later, former Mayor Ayub Khan also came with his supporters.
The prestigious Chamaraja Assembly constituency is likely to witness a close contest among all the political parties and there is a keen fight among the various aspirants of the Congress among themselves for this coveted seat.
Hence, a war of words erupted between the supporters of the sitting MLA Vasu and Mysuru Urban Development Authority Chairman D. Dhruvakumar. Hundreds of supporters of the latter had gathered. However, Vasu asked his supporters not to indulge in war of words and the situation was brought under control.
