Mysuru: Prof. Soumyen Bandyopadhyay, Design Chair, Liverpool University, UK, will give a Lecture-Presentation on “History and Context: Design Pedagogy and Research-led Practice at Liverpool School of Architecture,” on Sept. 21 at SJCE Golden Jubilee Block at 6pm under the auspices of Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), Mysore Centre.
Prof. Soumyen Bandyopadhyay is the Sir James Stirling Chair in Architecture and Head of School at the Liverpool School of Architecture (LSA), University of Liverpool, having previously held professorial positions at the Manchester School of Architecture (MSA) and Nottingham Trent University. He holds a BArch degree from the Bengal Engineering College (now IIEST), Sibpur (University of Calcutta), and MArch and PhD from the University of Liverpool.
His teaching and research interests are focused on the historical, theoretical and contextual approaches to architectural design and the art and architecture of India and the Middle East. Soumyen has extensive experience of architectural practice in these regions.
At Liverpool, Prof. Soumyen also directs the Research Centre, Architecture and Cultural Heritage of India, Arabia and the Maghreb (ArCHIAM; www.archiam-centre.com). The award-winning ArCHIAM team aims to provide an interdisciplinary research platform for historical and contemporary cultural developments across three interconnected global regions.
